A long time ago I read a thing about how it takes takes 𝑥 milliseconds for a nerve signal to get from the tip of your nose to your brain, but 𝑦 milliseconds to get from your finger to your brain (where 𝑦 > 𝑥 because of the extra distance).
So why is it that when you touch your nose, you don't feel it at 2 different times? Because your brain lags and waits for all the signals to come in before creating a model of the body.
@stereomike111 the amazing thing is, how uncritically many people accept the idea that the brain is like a von Neumann architecture computer. What reason is there to think that? Not much, that I can see.
