The dog is important, though
Bless you, boy

Sounds like my kind of contractor/installer.

thebibliosphere is such a treasure.

We had a plumber over a couple weeks ago to snake the line (imagine you just spent 18 hours straight traveling home, haven’t slept in 24+ and all you want is a shower, but I digress), and that guy really has a great life! He’s got a trailer he pulls up to a campground near Idyllwild when he wants to get away, lives in a Cliff May mid century home in Long Beach he and his wife have fully restored and furnished with period pieces, has a great relationship with his twin brother, who is swimming in cash but is really helpless otherwise and always calling for help with this or that. I was envious for minute. Then the end of the snake came twisting back out of the clean out with its nine foot haul of roots and gunk. “I do this annually for one lady not far from here and she asks me to set it aside for her compost. The plants love it!”

Young, competent contractors with senses of humor can really write their own ticket in 2022.

@jessamyn trying to find progressively-minded, eco-aware contractors is the new hobby/bane of my existence I've taken up recently. Based on how that's going: you're so right
