He’s 14 years and two months old. He’s a wizened old dude, made to look even more so because the idiots at the groomers ignored my request to leave enough of a winter coat to keep him warm until summer comes, and cut off his underbody feathers to boot. I’m beyond pissed. He shivers now a lot if I don’t keep the heat cranked up and wrap him in a blanket.

He has inflammatory bowel disease, meaning food doesn’t stay in him for long and comes out poorly digested, so he’s getting thinner. We’ve tried all sorts of special diets, which he loathes and refuses to eat, he gets probiotics and steroid pills and B12 injections, and he does eat boiled chicken and a little rice, so he’s not starving to death, but he’s definitely winding down an otherwise excellent life.

Sharing this to those who have admired him here as much as we do. Time erases us all, and we can only hope and strive to have shared and generated this much love before we go.

My goal is to keep him alive long enough for my wife to return and see him after 3 weeks in NM coping with intense family issues.

He is the goodest boy.
