And the Hungarian National Opera is a little over a hundred meters away. Several people told me the story of how the ruling class of Vienna told the builders that their opera could not be bigger than theirs. So, instead, they made it more ornate and built a gorgeous home for the ballerinas across Andrássy Blvd for spite (and probably to steal the best ballerinas). I stayed in the building adjacent to the opera for a week. I never tired of its lines. And you could hear rehearsals if you walked through the lobby.
