My eldest sister was married to Al Jardine (the guy on the far left in the thumbnail for this video) for about 20 years. I attended a few recording sessions and a few shows backstage when I was a kid. Even back then Brian seemed very frail (mentally). I never knew him (I was, after all, just a kid) but it was always weird to see how the media portrayed the band, when I had a little bit of an inside viewpoint.
It's sad that he's gone. Such great music. It's too bad that the industry ate him alive, like it did.
I loved The Beach Boys songs when I was a girl, aside from their excellence, and summer's day, clean sound; because they seemed to love girls. They sang in general of how much they loved, and liked girls, even old girls, like The Little Old Lady, From Pasadena, "who drives real fast, drives real hard, she's the terror of Colorado Boulevard, it's the little old lady from Pasadena."
