I didn't know the Playstation had a GPU revision!

Nor did I know that it made such a stark difference in rendering lighting gradients. You learn something new every day (or 30 years later). Neat that someone added this to the duckstation emulator.

From the comments, "It means you got up to eight times as many brightness steps in the lighting calculation (256 versus 32) with the new GPU."

i had one of the end-of-the-generation “PSone” (the li’l compact one) and it was startling how different some games looked on it vs some friends’ original models.
